Current Project Update
All construction for this project has been completed. The City held a short ribbon cutting ceremony on June 4, 2024.
SCOPE OF WORK
The intent of this project is to improve the safety, aesthetics, and drainage of the City owned parking area located on A1A Beach Blvd between A Street and 1st Street.
Parking improvements to include:
- The installation of a new stormwater drainage retention system that will connect to the existing St. Johns County stormwater system.
- The Installation of new concrete and brick-paver parking area that will accommodate:
- Ten (10) standard parking spaces.
- One (1) ADA space.
- Two (2) motorcycle spaces.
- Reworked entrance from 1st Street and a redesigned "Right Turn Only" exit on County Road A1A Beach Blvd.
- Sidewalk and landscaping work.
CURRENT PROJECT PHASE: COMPLETED
Local company G & H Construction Inc., 2315 Dobbs Road, will be the contractor for this project. A pre-construction meeting was held on 01/19/2024 and construction began on January 29, 2024.
TENTATIVE REMAINING SCHEDULE:
03/01: Parking Lot Concrete Curbs, Driving and ADA Parking Surfaces Installation - COMPLETED 2/29 ✔️
04/01: Paver Installation. - COMPLETED 03/18 ✔️
04/26: Installation of striping, guardrail, handrail, and signage. COMPLETED 04/19 ✔️
05/18: Substantial Completion. COMPLETED 04/19 ✔️
06/01: Final Completion. COMPLETED 05/23 ✔️
PROJECT FUNDING:
Funding for this project will be funded by money received from the The American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA).
