St. Augustine Beach Flood Reduction - 7th, 8th, and 9th Street Drainage

SCOPE OF WORK

 

The 7th 8th & 9th Street Drainage project consists of drainage improvements to 7th, 8th, and 9th Streets west of 2nd Avenue to alleviate recurrent flooding and reduce the potential for flood related losses. This project will also ensure adequate drainage conveyance to the City's master stormwater drainage system, located at the west end of the project site. This project will consist of the design, permitting, and construction of as-necessary drainage improvements that may include drainage structures, piping, swale construction, curb and gutter, and road improvements to reduce the frequency and severity of flooding within the project area.

CURRENT PROJECT PHASE: Pre-Construction

 

A Preconstruction meeting was held on 03/27/2024 and the proposed construction of 7th Street will tentatively begin in May (see below for tentative dates).

 

PROJECT FUNDING:

 

This project is currently being funded by a State of Florida Legislative Appropriation Grant in the amount of $90,000. However, due to the limited grant funding, the City will construct only the 7th Street portion of the improvements this fiscal year.

Budget funding for 8th and 9th Street Improvements have been requested in future fiscal year budget periods.

 

PROJECT SCHEDULE:

 

These dates are tentative and are subject to change.

05/01: Erosion & Sedimentation Control installation; begin removal of existing drainage pipe and structure.

05/06: Installation of new drainage pipe and structure.

05/09: Roadwork begins.

05/13: Curb installation.

05/20: Paving

05/22: Clean up.

06/17: Substantial completion.
