Right-of-Way Permitting

City Logo

All right-of-way utility permitting responsibilities are handled through the Public Works Department. Currently permits are issued for residential and commercial driveways, gas, electric, cable, telecommunications and fiber-optic installations.

Public Works ensures that utilities and various other installations within City of St. Augustine Beach rights-of-ways adhere strictly to the St. Johns County Land Development Code. Public Works work closely with all City, County, and State departments as well as with utility companies, engineering firms and residents to eliminate right-of-way permitting conflicts. This creates better coordination and quality, as well as assuring that all work done in City rights-of-ways meets strict standards and provides for public safety.

Additionally:

  • Public Works conducts site reviews for utility projects.
  • Notifies City Code Enforcement and State agencies of code violations and assists in solving those issues.
  • Review all right-of-way permit applications, drawings, and specifications.
  • Coordinate meetings and final inspections on all permitted utility projects.
