Dunes Walkover Project

Dune Walkovers in St. Augustine Beach

As of 12/07/2023 10th and 6th Street dune walkovers are complete.

The City of St. Augustine Beach in partnership with the St. Augustine Port Waterway and Beach District is funding the construction of dune walkovers located at 10th Street and 6th Street. Installing walkovers over the dunes helps prevent disruption to vegetation and coastal ecosystems from foot traffic and allows access for pedestrians to reach the beach conveniently and safely.

Construction will begin Monday November 6th, 2024.  During construction, beach goers should use caution in these areas and avoid accessing the beach at these locations if possible.   Construction is expected to last 4 weeks.

Recently, Dunes Walkover projects were completed on 3rd Street, 4th Street, 5th Street and 8th Street. The 3rd Street and 5th Street locations are ramp style walkovers and 4th and 8th Street have stair access. St. Johns County recently renovated Dunes Walkovers on 2nd Street, 7th Street and 9th Street.

If you have any further questions regarding this project, please reach out to the City of St. Augustine Beach Public Works Department at (904) 471-1119.
