City Recognizes October 2023 as Domestic Violence Awareness Month

October 3, 2023, St. Augustine Beach, Fl. – At the October 2 Commission meeting, the Board of City Commissioners proclaimed October 2023 to be recognized as Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

Domestic violence represents a pattern of assault and coercive behavior that will escalate in frequency and severity if intervention does not occur, and public awareness and education about domestic violence are needed as well as uniform efforts on the part of government, health professionals, law enforcement, religious organizations, educators, and community associations to address domestic violence through prevention, intervention, and treatment for victims and perpetrators.

Kenlie Kubart, Development Director of the Betty Griffin Center attended the meeting and shared that the Betty Griffin Center is the only certified in St. Johns County for domestic violence survivors.  Betty Griffin Center strives to bring awareness of domestic violence and provide safety to our community.
