The Accounting Assistant for the City of St. Augustine Beach supports the Finance Department by performing a wide range of accounting and clerical tasks essential to daily financial operations. Key responsibilities include managing accounts payable, processing payroll and cash receipts, reconciling bank accounts and balance sheets, handling monthly billing, and ensuring compliance with internal controls and purchasing policies. The role also involves assisting the Finance Director with financial reporting, audits, budget preparation, policy development, and capital asset tracking, while providing occasional support to the City Manager’s Office and stepping in during the Director’s absence.
Candidates should have an associate degree in accounting or related field (preferred), three years of bookkeeping or accounting experience, proficiency in Microsoft Office and accounting systems, and strong attention to detail, organization, and communication skills.
Starting pay is $55,000 – $65,000, based on experience and education. Medical insurance included with options for dental & vision, FRS retirement plan, life insurance, with paid holidays and vacation time.
