Community Oriented Policing
and
Crime Prevention Unit
The primary responsibility of the C.O.P./Crime Prevention unit is
community relations. It has been the policy of our department to be in touch
with the citizens we serve and their needs. This is done through a variety
of programs and events presented throughout the year. Below is a list of
some of our more popular activities and programs.
With our city growing by leaps and bounds, our number of school age children is
growing as well. During the school year our children are most

vulnerable while
walking to and from the bus stop. Most bus stops have a parent or two keeping an
eye out before the bus picks up the children.
As an added peace of mind, we have an officer monitor the bus stops before and
after school. This helps in two ways, one - the officer's presence deters
possible predators that may prey on our children and two - the high profile
patrolling reduces hazards such as speeders and improper passing of school
buses.
For more information concerning our school bus stop
monitoring,
please call Eudalio "Ed"
Martinez at (904) 471-3600.
The best crime prevention tool is a
good neighbor! The security steps you
and your neighbors take as a group are just as important as the things
you do individually.
Neighborhood Watch
should include an effort to inform everyone of good home security
practices, marking and listing your property, an up to date telephone
notification system, and neighborhood watch participation. In addition,
it should include watching out for and reporting suspicious or unusual
activities in your neighborhood to the
St. Augustine Beach Police
Department.
If you would like more information on Neighborhood Watch, Home Security Surveys, Crime
Prevention, or Community Oriented
