The City Manager's office staff is responsible for
the following:
- Preparing the agendas and corresponding information for the City Commission, Beautification
Advisory Committee, and various committees
- Issuing business tax receipts and dog licenses
- Providing bookkeeping and financial accounting services for all of the
City's departments
- Maintaining and storing City records
- Providing human resources services (hiring,
firing, payroll, leave records, etc.)
- Preparing the City's annual budget (with department heads)
- Maintaining health, life and workers' compensation insurance for all
employees, as well as liability and property damage insurance
for the City's buildings, vehicles and equipment
- Preparation of the quarterly newsletter
- Doing routine correspondence as well as special projects for the City
Commission
- Scheduling weekly lawn trash/special wastes pickup at specific addresses
DOG LICENSES
By City regulations, all dogs in the City are required to be licensed. The
licenses expire at the end of September each year. Residents can renew dog
licenses during normal business hours (8 a.m. - 5 p.m.) in the City Manager's
office at 2200 A1A South. Proof of a rabies vaccination within one prior
year is required. The fees are $3.00 for each male or spayed female dog, and
$5 for an unspayed female dog. Dogs must also be on a leash when not on the
owners' property, and owners must remove the dogs' wastes.
BUSINESS TAX RECEIPTS
All. persons with a business address in the City must pay a Business Tax
and receive a Business Tax Receipt (formerly Occupational License). New
Receipts require approval by the City's Building
Department, and an application and tax at the City Manager's office. Tax
amounts vary
according to the type of business to be conducted. Existing receipts expire at the end of September of each
year and may be renewed beginning July 1st of each year.. Persons with questions

City Limits
The City of St. Augustine Beach was incorporated in 1959, with a land area of
1260 acres or about 2.2 square miles. Lying approximately five miles southeast
of the City of St. Augustine, St. Augustine Beach's boundaries are the Atlantic
Ocean on the east, the west right-of-way of SR-A1A on the west, the north
right-of-way of Pope Road on the north, and Sandpiper Village subdivision on
the south.

City
Government
St. Augustine Beach has a commission/manager form of government. The Board of
Commissioners has five members elected at large in non-partisan elections for
staggered terms of four years each. The next election for two incumbents will
be Election Day in November 2008.
The City Commission has a regular meeting on the first Monday of every month at
7:00 p.m. in the City Hall at 2200 AlA South. Copies of the agenda are
available at the City Manager's office the week before the regular meeting.

City Services
The City of St. Augustine Beach provides the following services: law
enforcement, planning and zoning, code enforcement, building inspection, solid
waste collection, road and right-of-way maintenance, maintenance of City
buildings, drainage and stormwater management, and street lighting. |

Other Services
- St. Johns County provides the following services to residents of St.
Augustine Beach: water and sewer, recreation, library and
fire protection.
- Under contract with St. Augustine Beach, the County manages the City's
beach and provides toll collectors, life guards, and trash collection on the
beach.
- St Johns County Animal Control provides dog control service to the City.
